UPVC Replacement Door Handles The handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the handles that were previously used when replacing them. The top screw's position, the lever and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements that you need to determine. Refer to the size guide for help with this. Inline Lever/Lever A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This style of door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale. Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and they utilize the same screws and spindle to secure them. They can be easily installed on any uPVC/Composite door. The handle can be placed and angled to suit all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This helps ensure that the finish is of high quality and performance will last for a long time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further away from the door. A lever that is shorter is an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be activated by the thumb turn inside. Lever Pad A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles on doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a range of finishes and variations. The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This gives the handle the best performance and durability to serve its intended purpose. All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws and can be installed on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixation centres allow for a wider handle, which is often beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which can solve the issue of door handles that sag out of the horizontal position when not being used. It is essential to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect of matching up the correct handles. After you have determined the correct size of PZ it is important to ensure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. Euro Cylinder Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security. The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. External doors, for example, should be fitted with higher security cylinders and internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can increase security, such as anti drill or anti bump properties. To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place, but in the event that this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This simple part is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also stops your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position since they aren't easy to close manually. These spring cassettes have been specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will require a bespoke hole cut into your backplate in order for them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are fitted with a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually. These spring cassettes are a fantastic value-for-money way to fix the problem of door handles that are sagging. These spring cassettes are easy to install and can extend the life of your uPVC door.
